Hi friend,
Last weekend, devastating flash flooding hit Texas, claiming over a hundred lives and wrecking entire communities. We’re filled with immense grief as this climate disaster continues to unfold, and our hearts go out to everyone affected.
But alongside our grief, we also feel angry and frustrated.
When climate disasters strike, ordinary people suffer the consequences, not millionaire politicians like Ted Cruz. He notoriously helped cut funding for the National Weather Service, a system designed to protect American families, then immediately fled to Greece to evade accountability.
That same bill rolls back key clean energy programs and promotes fossil fuel development, all while ripping healthcare away from millions of Americans, raising our electricity bills, and giving huge tax breaks to the wealthiest billionaires.
As we continue to mourn and navigate this tragedy, we must also call out the role politics plays in fueling climate disasters like the one in Texas Hill Country. And that means holding our lawmakers accountable for failing to preserve programs that rein in the dangerous pollution we know is linked to extreme weather events. Will you join us in sending them a message about their recent vote?
