1) Congress Can’t Cut 0.13% of the Budget

We’re told that passing President Trump’s $9.4 billion rescission package - the one that would eliminate much of the funding for NPR and PBS (they can hold telethons) and some modest cuts in foreign aid - is a tough sell in the Senate. Apparently, the Cookie Monster desperately needs tax dollars.’

Me Want Tax Dollars

It passed the House so the Senate needs to toughen up and get it done. If they can’t cut the budget by 0.13% or the deficit by 0.5% we are sunk.

Fortunately, Trump is tightening the screws ahead of the July 18 deadline.

We will keep you posted.

2) We Have an Idea: Move the Fed into Soon-to-Be Empty NPR Building

Pretty much nobody except Mercatus and your HOTLINE team ([link removed]) has called out the Fed's absurd $2.5 billion HQ makeover. But the Trump White House is paying attention.
[link removed]

If they need new digs, we can save $2.5 Billion by moving them into the NPR building or what was once USAID.

Kudos to OMB Director Russ Vought for fighting this fight.

3) “Nonpartisan” Federal Reserve Employees Give 90%+ Democrat

Here’s another reason to clean house at the grand temple of the Fed.

According to Open Secrets’ analysis of federal election (FEC) records, Democratic candidates received 92.06% of the nearly $700,000 that Federal Reserve employees contributed to political campaigns during the 2024 election cycle. Nearly every year, 90% of the donations go to Democrats.

Does that sound non-partisan to you?

Everyone knows the Deep State has infiltrated the State Department, the Education Department, the Justice Department, and the FBI, but who would have thought they’d so thoroughly captured the Federal Reserve.

There are several hundred PhD economists at the Fed whose primary job is to keep inflation under control.

If we had a price rule or a gold standard, we could fire most of them.

Altogether, since the 2016 election cycle, Federal Reserve employees have contributed approximately $2.7 million to Democrat candidates. Republican candidates received $243,000.

So much for diversity

4) Headline of the Day

Not only is the Trump tax bill going to cause millions to die in the streets, but now Time warns us it’s going to destroy the schools:
[link removed]

Question: How does creating a tax break that allows Americans to fund scholarships for disadvantaged kids so they can attend better schools hurt “America’s kids?“

Incredibly, Time argues that black and Hispanic kids will be “the victims” of this program, even though THEY will receive most of the scholarships.

Sad that Time believes only rich white kids should be able to attend great schools. That seems pretty racist to us.

5) Hands Off My Coke!

There's a big move on the left and with some on the right to outlaw sugar drinks and other ingredients in soft drinks. We're pro-choice on soft drinks. Sorry, Michael Bloomberg: no outlawing Big Gulps.

It’s always been astonishing to us that so many of the 1970s lefties who wanted to legalize heroine and LSD, now want to ban Dr. Pepper.

The soft drink industry has proactively launched a new comprehensive website listing and explaining all of the ingredients in their products to calm panic-driven soda taxes and product bans in the states. It's a handy reference. And now consumers don’t need the health cops to tell them what they can put in their bodies.
