This week, I filed an emergency lawsuit against the City of Groveland on behalf of my client City Councilmember Judy Fike (Republican), for unlawfully removing her from a city council meeting and purportedly “suspending” her with no legal basis whatsoever.
These actions are in violation of Article 1 Section 4, the Florida Constitution, the First Amendment, Florida’s Open Public Meeting Law (286.011), the Florida Constitution’s due process clause, and the Groveland City Charter.
They have been served with the complaint and accompanying motion for preliminary injunction.
Groveland has acted recklessly and lawlessly in their quest to go “woke” and politically correct—big mistake.
