Tonight's discussion will be focused on the deeper meaning of why we named the delegation that we sent to Europe for the Schiller Conference of July 12–13 the John Quincy Adams Brigade. What truly is and must be the foreign policy of the first and therefore the oldest republic on this planet? Our republic is seated in the sovereign precincts of our imagination, as Percy Shelley maintained in his Defense of Poetry. Our great legislators were primarily poets, who inspired the world with the electric life in their words. We speak tonight of our true greatness, our true mission!
