After mounting pressure from Donald Trump, Governor Abbott just announced plans for a rare mid-decade redraw of the Texas congressional map.

Make no mistake: This is just another right-wing tactic to cling to their slim, unearned majority in the House of Representatives and steal the midterm elections. Republicans know their policies are unpopular, so they’re using every tactic they’ve got to suppress our voices — including extreme gerrymandering.

Republicans in Texas are attempting to steal the midterm elections and secure illegitimate power for themselves by drawing an even MORE gerrymandered map. And they are doing so at a time of tragedy when they should be focused on their constituents. Shameful.
