Internal transmissions—emails and texts—procured by CBS News and shared with congressional members by whistleblower Erez Reuveni, shed harsh light on Bove’s alleged involvement in sidestepping legal mandates during his DOJ tenure. The whistleblower’s disclosures now appear poised to derail Bove’s ascension to the federal bench.
These messages, made public Thursday by Senate Judiciary Democrats, unmask behind-the-scenes responses to the wrongful deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national unlawfully removed from Maryland on March 15—despite existing judicial prohibitions.
Reuveni, who served over 14 years within the Justice Department, was dismissed on April 11 after he allegedly failed to mount a sufficiently aggressive defense in support of the Trump administration's position during Abrego Garcia's case. Weeks later, he publicly opposed Bove’s nomination, intensifying scrutiny surrounding the latter’s conduct.
