Greg Abbott just announced that redistricting will be included in an upcoming special legislative session.
They're trying to rig the maps to avoid accountability for screwing the people of Texas — taking health care away from millions, gutting public schools, failing foster kids, and turning their backs on hungry children.
Usually, redistricting happens every 10 years after the latest census to ensure seats reflect population changes. Texas isn’t due to redistrict until 2030.
Redistricting mid-decade is an extremely rare and deeply undemocratic move. Its sole purpose is to gerrymander districts and rig the rules to keep Republicans in power.
Texans deserve representatives who put their interests first, not power-hungry politicians like Greg Abbott who will rig the maps.
That’s why we’re on the ground registering as many voters as possible and organizing communities to protect our democracy at the ballot box. But we need a powerful grassroots movement if we’re going to win in 2026.
