Folks,
There are a lot of places in this country that get talked about as if they don’t matter. Appalachia is one of them.
People have worked hard there for generations, but the wealth didn’t stay in their communities. It was extracted and taken from them, leaving them with fewer resources and too little support to build a better future.

I read an article the other day that really laid out the disparities. It showed just how much philanthropic funding skips over Appalachia entirely, leaving the organizations building civic and economic infrastructure on the ground with a lot to do — and not many resources to do it.
But that doesn’t mean there’s any shortage of ideas or people ready to lead. It just means they haven’t gotten the backing they need to make change last.
This is exactly why we launched Groundwork Project in 2021. We’re proud to partner with eight frontline organizations doing the work in West Virginia so we can back local leaders who know what their neighbors need.
Your support today will help us keep those partnerships strong, and make sure local leaders have the resources to keep going. Will you chip in $10 to support this work?
