Port of Tacoma Commission to meet July 15

Port of Tacoma Commissioners on July 15 will consider design authorization for the East Commencement Habitat Opportunity (ECHO) project and a private rail crossing agreement. Commissioners will also consider an updated Port of Tacoma Strategic Plan for 2026-2030 and hear the first reading of a proposed lease with Silverback Industries, LLC. New report finds Ports of Tacoma and Seattle, NWSA support more than 265,000 jobs and $55 billion in regional benefits

A new regional economic impact analysis shows The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), the Port of Tacoma, and the Port of Seattle continue to be primary drivers of the regional and state economy, supporting more than 265,000 jobs in 2023. Port hosts regional emergency response exercise

The Port of Tacoma hosted a regional exercise focused on vessel fires, bringing together first responders, government agencies and industry partners. For this two-day event in June, Wallenius Wilhelmsen welcomed firefighters from Tacoma and Seattle aboard one of its roll-on/roll-off ships, to familiarize them with the vessel layout and onboard firefighting capabilities. ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP

Port receives $2 million EPA brownfields grant for Maritime Center 

The Environmental Protection Agency awarded the Port of Tacoma a $2 million brownfields grant to clean up historically contaminated soil and groundwater at the Port Maritime Center property. The site, when completed, will include public waterway access and walking trails, Tacoma Public Schools’ Maritime|253 skills center, and a new Port business office. Read more ⇒ [ [link removed] ]
