After weeks of extreme heat, the ground is dry, wildlife is suffering and workers are struggling.

This year saw the hottest Spring on record, the hottest May (up to 29.3C), and the hottest June (up to 34.7C), since records began in 1884.

The Met Office agrees climate change is to blame - with more dangerously hot summers to come, as global averages continue to rise.

Alongside many other organisations, XRUK is taking part in ‘Turn up the Heat’ week, to highlight the impact of the UK’s escalating temperatures.

From July 14th to 20th there will be actions each day:

• Meltdown Monday - a day of online action.
• Tipping Point Tuesday – drop a Heat Strike banner.
• Workers Wednesday – stage a lunchtime walk-out.
• Warm Weekend – Set up a cool station with leaflets, stickers, posters.

AND - help get an action ready for the hottest day of the year. Signing up to Heat Strike will connect you to people in your area via and also send you an alert ahead of when the hottest day is predicted.
