Hey, I want to be upfront: In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to chip in to my campaign to protect KS-03.

But before I do that, I wanted to share a few stories (and some pictures too!) about where I come from and why I’m in this fight.

There is no one in the world more inspiring to me than my mom. She spent more than 20 years serving her country in the Army, all while teaching me the value of hard work and the responsibility all of us have to give back to our communities.

I carried those lessons with me when I worked multiple jobs to pay my way through school — and I still carry them with me today.

After I graduated, I went on to work in economic and community development on Native American reservations, helping tribes create programs and initiatives for growth. (Not to mention, a brief stint as an MMA fighter too!)

And in 2018, I ran for Congress in a district that had elected just one Democrat in the last 50 years. I had never run for elected office before, but after I saw Donald Trump and National Republicans ignore their responsibilities to their constituents time and time again, I knew I had to take action.

The pundits believed I wouldn’t stand a chance. They thought there was no way a state like Kansas would ever elect a Democrat to Congress, much less an LGBTQ+ Native American woman. But that November, we proved them wrong.

I’m proud that I have a unique background in Congress. I only wish that there were more of us here. More people who worked their way through school. More people committed to results over rhetoric. More people who weren’t born on third base.

So if you believe that Congress needs more voices like mine, will you chip in to help me defend this competitive seat from National Republicans? 2026 is coming up fast, and I need your help to get our message out far and wide across the district.
