Exploring the Scarborough Marsh WMA
 Date/Time: Saturday, August 9, 2025; 8am - 10am
Location: Scarborough Wildlife Management Area, Eastern Trail - Scarborough, ME
Join MDIFW Biologist John Veal at the Scarborough Marsh Management Area (WMA) to learn how MDIFW manages early successional habitat in southern Maine for various bird and mammal species, including the state endangered New England cottontail rabbit. Biologists will lead this two-mile outing along the mostly flat, well maintained Eastern Trail to share landscape features and improvements made to help marsh and shrubland species survive. We will dive into the historical land use and management of salt marshes and the surrounding land along with threats these regions face today. Be sure to bring binoculars if you have them as we may see many types of birds or other wildlife if we are lucky.
