WorldPride 2025 in Washington, D.C. was a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and global impact of LGBTQ+ leaders. Over the course of the week, LGBTQ+ Victory Institute proudly hosted and participated in events that uplifted our community, sparked critical conversations, and celebrated the progress we’ve made. From high-level panels and global receptions to joyful moments of visibility at the parade, we were honored to stand with allies and elected officials from around the world in the shared fight for equality. Take a look at all the events below!

Presentation of Democracy Demands Equality

LGBTQ+ Victory Institute proudly launched Democracy Demands Equality, a groundbreaking report on LGBTQI+ political participation across Latin America and the Caribbean. Based on nearly 5,000 survey responses, the report is the first of its kind to map out the state of LGBTQI+ representation in the region, from elected officials to grassroots activists.

We were honored to present this work alongside global champions for equality, including Spanish Senator Carla Antonelli, Peruvian Congresswoman Susel Paredes Piqué, Mexican Congressman Jaime López Vela, Massachusetts State Representative Jack Patrick Lewis, and partners from Grindr and beyond. This powerful resource charts a path toward more inclusive democracies that reflect the diversity of our communities.

Surrounded by allies, activists, and elected officials from around the world, we honored the strides we’ve made and recommitted to the fight for full equality everywhere. In the spirit of WorldPride, the evening uplifted the voices of LGBTQI+ leaders whose courage and visibility are transforming politics across the globe. Thank you to our incredible partners and guests: together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive world.

On the Frontlines of Equality: Legislating to Defend LGBTQ+ Rights Across the Globe

During the Human Rights Conference, LGBTQ+ Victory Institute hosted On the Frontlines of Equality: Legislating to Defend LGBTQ+ Rights

Across the Globe, a powerful conversation with elected leaders championing LGBTQI+ rights in their countries. Moderated by Victory Institute President & CEO Evan Low, the panel featured Peruvian Congresswoman Susel Paredes Piqué, Mexican Congressman Jaime López Vela, U.S. Representative Julie Johnson, and Member of the European Parliament Alessandro Zan, who shared strategies to combat hate speech, defend civil rights, end conversion therapy, and advance HIV health equity. At a time when anti-LGBTQI+ legislation and rhetoric are on the rise, these leaders reminded us that progress is possible and global solidarity is essential.

Time2Run: Building the Skills to Win

At Time2Run: LGBTQ+ Candidacy and Campaigns, LGBTQ+ Victory Institute led an interactive, skills-building workshop focused on empowering LGBTQ+ individuals to step into political leadership. With the belief that “if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu,” participants explored strategies to assess their readiness to run for office and turn political ambition into action. The session emphasized the urgent need for more trans folks, women, people of color, and young leaders in elected office—and offered practical tools to get there. As recent elections have proven, every seat matters—and this conversation inspired a new wave of changemakers ready to claim their place at the table.

Marching with Pride

LGBTQ+ Victory Institute proudly marched through the streets of Washington, D.C. for the WorldPride 2025 Parade, joined by LGBTQ+ elected officials and supporters from across the globe.

With flags flying and voices raised, we celebrated our vibrant community and demanded visibility, equality, and representation worldwide. It was an unforgettable moment of solidarity with the leaders and advocates who are shaping the future of LGBTQ+ rights and a powerful reminder that pride is political.

On the Steps of the Lincoln Memorial

At the iconic Lincoln Memorial, LGBTQ+ Victory Institute President & CEO Evan Low joined 20 global leaders to deliver a powerful call to action during WorldPride 2025. In his remarks, Evan declared, “We completely reject the hateful tyrants and we remember the wisdom of a true King,” honoring the legacy of civil rights leaders past while looking boldly toward the future. With unwavering conviction, he reminded the crowd, “We won’t just ask for a seat at the table. We will build more tables.” It was a defining moment of Pride, purpose, and power on one of the most historic stages in the world.
