John, heads up:
By now, you probably know that Trump's devastating spending bill will slash clean energy incentives and hand out massive giveaways to the fossil fuel industry.
What you might not know is that the 887-page monstrosity he just signed into law is stuffed with so many environmental attacks, we could be here all day listing them all.
We want to shine a light on 5 egregious anti-environmental provisions you may have missed:
☠️ 1. Methane polluters just got a 10-year free pass. The new law postpones the methane leak fee for oil and gas operations by 10 years and rescinds funding for other programs designed to reduce methane leaks.
🚷 2. The National Park Service lost $267 million in staff funding. During a staffing crisis and record-breaking visitation, Trump ripped vital funding from the very people who protect these historic treasures and keep people safe.
🐾 3. Endangered species recovery plans were rescinded. The law guts the funding designed to restore endangered and threatened species. Wildlife species that were already on the brink of extinction just lost critical lifelines.
🌩️ 4. They slashed funding for weather forecasting. The law eliminates $150 million for improving storm prediction and climate monitoring — money that would’ve gone to NOAA scientists and life-saving early warning systems.
⛏️ 5. Four million acres of federal lands just got opened up for coal mining. And to top it off, Trump added a brand-new tax break for steelmaking coal producers — just to sweeten the deal for Big Coal — all while cutting clean energy manufacturing credits and letting wind and solar projects wither.
These cuts will destroy decades of climate progress and impact millions of Americans, especially folks in low-income and frontline communities who are already bearing the brunt of the climate crisis. Our kids and grandkids will inherit a more polluted, more dangerous world so fossil fuel execs can get richer.
Trump and every Republican who voted for this bill are counting on us to throw our hands up and walk away. That's not happening. We're staying united and committed to electing climate champions who aren’t afraid to take on the fossil fuel industry and will deliver real solutions for our communities.
The question is: Will you join us? This is our moment to fight back. Take our pledge to vote for climate champions up and down the ballot in 2025 and beyond >>> [[link removed]]
