I’m following up on Max’s email from Tuesday. With House Speaker Mike Johnson eyeing so-called “entitlement reform” just days after passing devastating Medicaid cuts, we must make it clear: Social Security and Medicare are not up for grabs. So please, if you haven’t had a chance to sign our urgent petition, add your name now and help us send a clear message: Hands off seniors’ earned benefits. |

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson wants to tackle “entitlement reform” next — and that means they’re coming after your earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. |
Despite the overwhelming and vocal opposition of the majority of Americans, President Trump has signed into law the Trump-GOP Megabill — slashing $1 trillion from Medicaid, cutting $180 billion from SNAP food nutrition programs, threatening access to care for millions of older Americans and pushing our most vulnerable citizens closer to the brink … |
These callous and cruel cuts to critical health coverage, long-term care and nutrition programs will help pay for massive tax cuts that mainly benefit the ultra-rich and huge corporations. That’s why this bill has rightly been called ‘the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in U.S. history.’ |
And now, House Speaker Mike Johnson says he’s ready to take up so-called “entitlement reform” — which means Social Security and Medicare are next. |
We cannot let this stand. That’s why we’re launching an emergency petition to Congress right now: |
John, I need you to SIGN THE PETITION: “Keep your hands off seniors’ earned benefits NOW.” |
For millions of older Americans, Social Security and Medicare aren’t optional — they are the only way to stay afloat. With rising prices, higher out-of-pocket costs and now devastating cuts to Medicaid, any further reductions could push millions into poverty, illness or homelessness. |
These aren’t “entitlements.” These are your earned benefits — funded by decades of hard work and payroll contributions. |
But Speaker Johnson is on record: “We have to get to entitlement reform.” |
Translation: They’re coming for Social Security and Medicare next. |
We must make a preemptive strike now — before reckless proposals are fast-tracked in Washington. |
The National Committee is already gearing up for this next battle — working to expose the truth in national media, briefing key lawmakers and their staff and activating members in every congressional district. |
They may have passed their budget. But we will not let them dismantle the most successful government programs in American history without a fight. |
Thank you for standing with us — and with America’s seniors. |

P.S. Social Security and Medicare are lifelines for millions. After slashing Medicaid, GOP leaders are already targeting them next. Please sign the petition and help us stop any attempt to fast-track benefit cuts. |
