On Thursday July 17th, the anniversary of Rep. John Lewis’ passing, we’re mobilizing across the country (and taking to the streets) to demand that Congress protect our rights and ensure free and fair elections for all.
The Trump administration is waging one of the most sweeping assaults on civil and human rights we’ve seen in a generation. From the SAVE Act’s dangerous voter suppression tactics to laws that target protest itself, they're attempting to silence dissent and dismantle the very foundations of democracy.
The time to act is now. Join our demonstration on the 17th and make some good trouble
Below you'll find:
-The details of this demonstration
-Information about a sign making workshop
-Multiple critical volunteer opportunities to take place before and during the 17th
GOOD TROUBLE LIVES ON: JOHN LEWIS DEMONSTRATION
Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.
We demand an end to:
-The extreme crackdown on our civil rights by the Trump administration, from our right to vote to our right to protest and free speech.
-The attacks on black and brown Americans, immigrants, trans people, and other communities.
-The slashing of programs that working people rely on, including Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security.
In order to ensure a safe an effective rally on the 17th, we will need volunteers for a few critical roles:
-Safety Captains (de-escalate confrontations, report dangerous situations, direct attendees away from the street)
-Hydration Wagon (provide water/ice to anyone affected by the heat who is too far for the first aid/hydration tent)
-First Aid (call the emergency line if there are any major health-related incidents, provide water/ice to anyone who has overheated)
If you are interested in filling any of these positions, please reach out at [email protected]
