Race + Power Weekly

With everything happening across the country and the world, it can be easy to become discouraged. Sometimes, it may feel like we are stuck in the status quo. But in this week’s newsletter, we highlight how organizations are not just imagining a better future but doing the work to create it.

First, in officially announcing NPQ’s #WeTheCivic campaign, Interim Editor in Chief Sara Hudson highlights how nonprofit workers and organizations are doing the work of democracy. As she writes, “America’s story can’t be told without us.” Next, NPQ’s Economic Justice Editor Steve Dubb uplifts the powerful work being done in Los Angeles by the organizers of a Black-led community land trust. Then, Katy Rubin and Liz Morgan shine a light on how the arts can be used as a powerful method to spur people to fight against injustice. Finally, we look at the concerns from Black women voters and highlight what they believe is the path forward.
