Johh,
In Colorado, we’re lucky to live among some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country. Our four national parks, eleven national forests, two national grasslands, and millions of acres of public lands are part of our state’s identity. It’s where families make memories, where visitors from around the world come to be inspired, and where generations have found peace and purpose.
But as we celebrate Parks and Recreation Month, I need to be honest with you: These spaces and the people who care for them are in serious danger.
Just as the busy summer season begins, our national parks are left without the resources they need. It started when Donald Trump kicked off his presidency by firing nearly a quarter of the National Park Service’s full-time staff.
That damage has only deepened since.
The GOP tax bill strips away $267 million in funding already allocated to the National Park Service — resources parks were relying on to pay rangers, preserve historic and cultural sites, and keep visitor centers open. And, in the background, there are still efforts underway to let private developers carve up our public lands for profit.
This is a calculated effort to weaken one of our nation’s most cherished institutions, and I won’t stand for it. Our national parks are a public trust. They don’t belong to politicians or corporations; they belong to all of us. They are reminders of what we can accomplish when we choose stewardship over short-term gain. I will keep fighting to make sure they remain protected for future generations.
Add your name and stand with me during this National Parks and Recreation Month. Tell Donald Trump and the GOP: Hands off our national parks >> [link removed]
Thanks for standing up for the places that make Colorado so special.
