1) Can Trump Pull Off the Trade Deal of the Century?

This blockbuster headline from Euronews instantly caught our attention:
[link removed]

According to the story, "the EU is working to avoid a tariff rate as high as 50% ahead of a 1 August deadline. It now appears that a 10% duty is on the table."

This could be the trade deal of the century if Trump and the Europeans (more than 25 countries) can pull it off. We only hope that Trump will take our advice and push for a reciprocal tariff rate of zero - as he offered up in his first term.

Germany’s chancellor, Friedrich Merz, says he wants "a trade deal with the lowest possible tariffs" between the US and the EU.

Any deal that brings tariff rates down to 10% or less would uncork one of the great stock market booms of all time on both sides of the Atlantic.

Go for it, Mr. President.

2) The Renewable Energy Canard Exposed

We've devoted lots of space in the Hotline dismantling the mythology of "green energy" meeting our enormous energy demands. The idea that wind and solar - which supply between 5% and 10% of our energy today - will ever replace the 80% that comes from geological fuels - oil, gas, and coal - is a dangerous fantasy.

We stumbled upon this three minute video from the Von Mises Institute that explains all of this and every school child should see this video - but they probably won't. Pass it around.

3) Pritzker Wants Four More Years

The voters in Illinois must be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. They've fallen in love with their captor - Governor JB Pritzker - who is running for a third term and is odds on favorite to win.

The state has been on an eight-year tailspin, and everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong. The state is perpetually broke, the schools don't teach, Chicago is a mess, and people are leaving in droves.

Only two states have had a higher percentage of moving vans packing up and leaving than the Land of Lincoln in recent years. Things are so bad that more residents are leaving Illinois for the once-backwater states of Arkansas and West Virginia, than are relocating in the opposite direction. You know you're in trouble when families are giving up on Illinois for the greener pastures of Wheeling.

Illinois is also now ranked the worst state in the Midwest for starting a business.

What's especially demoralizing is that the media is all abuzz that this 300-pound heir to the Pritzker fortune is a potential Democrat nominee for president. He's promising to do for the country what he's done to Illinois.

4) Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin Delivers Massive Regulatory Reform

Meanwhile, here’s what a GOOD Governor does for his state:

Governor Glenn Youngkin today announced... regulatory changes that collectively streamline over 26.8% of the regulatory requirements in the Virginia Code. All told, these changes save Virginia citizens over $1.2 billion per year. Virginia agencies have also eliminated over 11.5 million words from their guidance documents, representing a 47.9% reduction overall.

5) Climate Change Is Supposedly Keeping Us Up at Night - Literally
[link removed]

ABC News cited a new study from the journal Nature Communications (Yes, there really IS an academic journal called that!!) which concludes:

"If temperature keeps rising the way (climate experts) project it to, the burden and prevalence of sleep apnea may double, increasing by 20-100%, depending on greenhouse gas emission reduction."

Sounds like we're going to have to expand air conditioning. Oh, wait. We forgot. The climate change alarmists want to abolish air conditioning.

If you're interested in a rebuttal to this idiocy, you can visit the website Climate Realism ([link removed]) . They note that the major risk factors for sleep apnea are obesity, use of alcohol or sedatives, thick neck circumference, and family history. The words "climate change" do not figure in any of the medical literature.
