Hi friend,
It’s Lacey Schwartz Delgado. Some of you know me as Antonio’s wife and some of you know Antonio because of me. I want to reach out to speak with you directly. Not just as someone who has walked every step of this journey with Antonio, but as a changemaker, mother, and a New Yorker too.
When we made the decision as a family to run for Governor, it wasn’t easy. This campaign takes time, sacrifice, and heart. And together, with our boys and our dog Leroy, we said yes. Not because it would be convenient, but because we believe the moment demands it.
I wasn’t always political. But when Donald Trump won in 2016, we couldn’t sit on the sidelines any longer. Like so many of us, I had a moment of reckoning. I realized that when we—smart, capable, connected, people who care deeply—stay out of politics, it creates a vacuum. And that vacuum gets filled by the likes of Donald Trump.
And so in 2018, when Antonio ran for Congress, I stepped up—not because politics was comfortable for me, but because the alternative was unacceptable. We built a movement that year, with a simple but powerful strategy: out-raise, out-organize, out-inspire, out-work. And it worked. Because people were hungry for something different.
Now, I feel that same urgency again.
In New York, 1 in 5 kids are growing up in deep poverty. Families are being crushed by the cost of housing and child care. And our leaders are telling us to wait, to accept the status quo—as if that’s good enough.
But we know it’s not. New York State should be a model for the rest of the country. And, if we can’t make progress here then how can we expect it to happen anywhere else?
That’s why Antonio is running. Because the kind of leadership we need now is bold, decisive, and transformational. The kind that listens. The kind that acts. The kind that doesn’t play the game.
And I believe, with all my heart, that’s exactly what Antonio and our family bring to the table.
This is a campaign grounded in values, not political calculation. We’re going up against entrenched power and corporate money. So just like in 2018, we’re building something different. A people-powered movement rooted in truth, integrity, and hope.
But we can’t do this without you.
We have the polling. We have the team. We have the vision. Now, we need the momentum—and that starts with you.
For the campaign to grow, we need to crush our July 11th public fundraising deadline, the first since Antonio launched. Showing strong fundraising numbers will be a sign our campaign is building momentum and Antonio has the backing of the people and will allow us to run a campaign focused on the people, by the people.
Can I count on you to donate today? Every donation makes a difference.
As a storyteller, I’ve spent my life uncovering what’s real. And this campaign? This is one of those stories. A story of who we are and who we have the power to become, together.
So from one family to another: thank you. Thank you for being part of this. Thank you for believing, for fighting, for showing up.
It’s time to change the game. Let’s win this, together.
All my love,
Lacey Schwartz Delgado
