In order to move our country forward, it's absolutely critical that we take back the Senate this November, and in order to do that we need to flip just four seats.

One of the most competitive races is happening in Colorado where Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper is in striking distance of turning a seat blue.

When I was Mayor of Newark, John was Mayor of Denver and we quickly became friends. I came to admire him as an innovator, a consensus-builder, and a person who got things done. Those are exactly the kind of qualities we need in our leaders here in the Senate.

The honor, the kindness, and the decency of who he is contributed to his rise to become the Governor of Colorado in 2011. John continues to be that kind of leader, unifying people, building bridges, and finding ways to move Colorado forward. This is why we need him in the Senate.

So far, John is up in the polls with a groundswell of grassroots support, but we can't take anything for granted: Republicans just launched a new round of attack ads against John as they do everything in their power to keep their grip on this Senate seat.
