** Friday Power Lunch - HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE
Friday, July 11 @ 12:00 PM
Zoom
The Friday Power Lunch folks have a big one this week.
* For the first time ever, Congressman Bobby Scott joins the Friday Power Lunch! We’ll ask him to spill the tea on the BIG BAD BILL coming out of Congress, how it will impact Virginia and the nation — including the alarming funding for a police state and reports of immigration arrests spiking right here in Virginia.
* Next up: Tram Nguyen, Co-Executive Director of New Virginia Majority. Tram will break down her secret sauce for reaching voters where they are and how we turn non-voters into leaders in their communities.
* Then, we’re getting tactical with BADASS Lynlee Thorne, Political Director of Rural GroundGame . She’ll share how we can all plug into a grassroots storytelling and voter outreach effort to make sure Virginians hear the truth about how this bill will gut services and impact lives.
* And finally — as always, we hand the mic to the incomparable Ms. Margaret Morrison . Ms. Margaret closes out our show every week with wisdom, courage, and heart.

** Good Trouble Lives On: A Day of Action
Thursday, July 17
3:00 PM: In-Person in Alexandria
6:00 PM: Virtual
On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, People Power United is hosting a virtual event to honor his legacy and defend our rights and freedoms. As Trump and his allies push voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act and criminalize protest, we’re rising up in nonviolent resistance—because in America, the power belongs to the people. This isn’t just a rally. It’s a moral stand. It’s Good Trouble—alive and marching forward.

** May Nivar for HD-57 fundraiser featuring Rep. Ted Lieu
Wednesday, July 23 @ 7:00 PM
Address provided upon RSVP
Rep. Ted Lieu, Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus , and retired U.S. Air Force Reserve JAG officer, is scheduled to attend. May Nivar is an exceptional candidate who is primed to flip a seat from the Republicans in likely the most contested seat in the House of Delegates, VA-57, which was lost by only 715 votes in 2023. The district voted nine points toward Kamala Harris over Donald Trump, making this the most opportune pickup for Democrats and the most defended seat in Virginia. It will cost us a lot of money to compete here. Our Dems in NOVA should do everything we can to support her.
