Dear Ward 8 Residents,
Today, the city started Phase Two of Reopening DC. During Phase Two, the public and businesses will be required to adopt new behaviors and safeguards to mitigate risk for all. For example, DC Department of Motor Vehicles will restore in-person services by appointment only starting tomorrow.
Beginning tomorrow, June 23rd, DMV services will operate as follows:
* All service centers, adjudication services, and the Brentwood Commercial Driver License (CDL) Office will operate on an “appointment only” basis.
* The Inspection Station will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis with modified hours.
* The Self-Service Vehicle Emissions Inspection Kiosk will re-open with 24/7 access.
Many residents are excited about the lifted restrictions. However, I urge residents to continue to move with caution. Wear your mask/face covering when out in public settings, wash/sanitize your hands often and stay home whenever possible. For more guidance on Phase Two please visit: [link removed].
Regards,
Trayon White, Sr.
Councilmember, Ward 8

DMV has extended the expiration date for all documents expiring March 1 through the duration of the public health emergency, including driver licenses, identification cards, vehicle registrations, inspections, ticket payments and ticket adjudication responses, until 45 days after the health emergency concludes.
All driver licenses, vehicle registrations, and vehicle inspections scheduled to expire have been granted a waiver without penalty until DC DMV reopens at full operating capacity.
All tickets will remain in their current status for the duration of the public health emergency, and no additional penalties will be added during this period. In the interim, the public is encouraged to request adjudication and pay tickets online. Additionally, all driver license suspensions and revocations will be paused until DC DMV returns to full operating capacity.
Regards,
DC Department of Motor Vehicles
