John,
Eastern Congo’s forests are irreplaceable wonderlands of nature, where
critically endangered Grauer’s Gorillas make their home alongside
elephants, chimps, and more.
But war is threatening to destroy their home – and the conservation
workers who protect it are struggling to survive as rebels have taken
control of major cities, forcing millions to flee.
We can help.
Our partners, Rainforest Trust, are doing everything they can to
help evacuate conservation staff to safety while keeping critical
operations running. But without additional support, their work protecting
some of Earth’s most endangered wildlife could be at risk.
In the face of armed conflict, these brave forest guardians need someone
to stand up for them. That can be us – and we can get cash in their hands
quick, with zero red tape. Can you chip in to protect these irreplaceable
forests in Congo – and fuel all our battles to protect people and planet?

Over 7 million people have been displaced by the latest surge in fighting
in eastern Congo. M23 rebels captured Goma in January – a city of 2
million people and a crucial humanitarian hub. They seized Bukavu in
February. Now they're advancing west, and displaced families are seeking
safety in nature reserves where conservation work is taking place.
International aid cuts have exacerbated an already desperate situation.
Despite the odds, local conservation workers are continuing to fight to
protect Congo’s precious rainforests and species.
But they don’t have to do it alone.
Our partner, Rainforest Trust, is supporting conservation NGOs with rapid
emergency funding to help them weather storms like this. In eastern Congo,
they’re helping groups on the ground evacuate while maintaining the
conservation work that protects the irreplaceable species and vast carbon
stores in these ancient rainforests.
They’ve already helped nearly 150 people relocate to safety, supported
critical water infrastructure repairs, and provided salary support so
conservation teams can keep operating. But the need is overwhelming, and
more help is desperately needed.
That's why we're stepping in. We can’t abandon conservationists on the
frontlines in Congo and beyond just when they need us most.
Can you help keep these amazing conservationists working to protect some
of Earth's most irreplaceable wildlife, and fuel Ekō's work to protect
people and planet?
