BREAKING: Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced a special legislative session for later this month—and today he added redrawing the state’s Congressional districts to the agenda:

Donald Trump wants Texas Republicans to redraw Texas’ congressional maps—a brazen, unconstitutional power grab aimed at protecting their hold on the House of Representatives and silencing the voices of Texas voters.

No matter what happens, we must be ready.  Can you make a contribution today to help us prepare?   

Republicans know that they’re at risk of losing seats in the midterm elections.  That’s why they’re trying to rig the system to carve out as many as five new GOP seats in Texas alone.  That means eliminating five Democratic seats.  But their scheme could backfire.  Redistricting can cut both ways, and shifting district lines could end up threatening GOP seats, too.

We have an opportunity to show Donald Trump and Texas Republicans that Texans won’t stand for more partisan gerrymandering and that we’re ready to defend leaders like Lizzie who fight for our communities and our values in Congress.

We can win these battles if we prove that overwhelming support for Lizzie and candidates like her will shrink the Republican majority in Congress—not expand it.  But that’s only possible if we have the resources to reach voters, fight back against misinformation, and run strong campaigns and candidates all across the state.
