When I first decided to run for Congress, I did what most candidates do:
I picked up the phone and called around to my close friends, family, and people who would give me their honest opinions. My close friends believed in me, and they were ready to help.
But folks across the country said it couldn’t be done.
People were saying it’d be impossible for a Native woman to raise enough money or win that type of election, especially given the fact that I was in a competitive 6-way primary. It was no secret I’d start the race at a disadvantage – but we overcame extraordinary odds thanks to the power of community. Thousands of New Mexicans came together to canvass, make phone calls, and chip in. And, as they say, the rest is history…
I love telling this story, because it’s a reminder that together is how we make the impossible possible. It’s with that same hopeful spirit that I want to let you in on an ambitious goal my team and I just set for our campaign.
We’re getting close to a major milestone of 125,000 online donations to our campaign. That number represents more than just a dollar amount we can spend. It’s proof to the media – and to our MAGA-backed opponents – that we’re building a dedicated team of grassroots supporters who are ready to fuel this campaign through a competitive race for governor.Like I said earlier: when I made the decision to run for Congress, the first thing I did was pick up the phone to call the people closest to me. I wanted to hear directly from people I could count on – and they ended up being my biggest supporters in my long-shot campaign!
That’s why I’m planning to call a few folks who chip in to help reach this big milestone so I can personally thank you for your support. 📞
Every donation means the world to me. Especially now, when I know it’s not easy to afford to contribute financially to a campaign. But if your budget allows, chipping in today would make an impactful difference in our goal to reach 125,000 online donations.
With hope and gratitude,
Deb
