National security should not be a partisan issue. Republican or Democrat, it is in the American people’s best interest to staff our national security apparatus with qualified, non-partisan professionals whose ONLY priority is public safety.

But Donald Trump disagrees. Instead, he has increasingly weaponized the cancellation of security clearances, using this broad executive power not to address national security concerns, but to purge ANYONE who doesn’t toe the MAGA party line.

This is a disaster waiting to happen. So I’m taking action.

Along with my colleague Rep. Ted Lieu, we just introduced the SECURE Act, legislation that would expand due process protections for any non-governmental employee who has access to classified materials.

Donald Trump has politicized nearly every aspect of the federal government, with disastrous consequences. But our national security should be a hard line in the sand — a line that is NEVER crossed, no matter which party is in charge.
