![]() Team, in the Navy, we had a saying: Ship. Shipmate. Self. Throughout my career — and especially my time in politics — I’ve come to believe there are two kinds of people in the world: those who have the integrity to live by that motto, and those who don’t. The first group understands that leadership is about service, and that when we all do better, we all do better. The second group thinks the only way to get ahead is to put themselves first. Our nation’s leadership is filled with people who belong to the second group — who would (and do!) sell out their community to protect their own career. If you want proof, take a look at the vote that 218 House Republicans just took robbing their constituents of their health care access. Or look at my opponent, Jack Ciattarelli, who was their biggest cheerleader as they did it. I’m running for governor because I believe that service means putting your community before yourself. I know we can build a state where everyone does better. And if you think so, too, I’d be honored to have your support as we take on the tough fights ahead.
Thank you, Mikie Sherrill |
