After Republicans rammed through their devastating budget bill last week, yes, Brittany cried on the House floor.
She cried because Brittany actually cares about the moms, dads, and kids who are going to be hurt by this bill. Because she knows that this legislation will harm working-class families the most — families like hers.
But Republicans couldn’t care less about the repercussions. Because to them, cruelty is the point.
Empathy in our government is not a weakness. Compassion is not a weakness. They are our strengths — strengths that are sorely lacking in today’s Republican Party.
