The aftermath following the tragic death of George Floyd has shown the radical Left destroying America while calling to defund police departments.

Currently before Congress are three bills threatening the sovereignty of your local police and other law enforcement agencies: H.R. 7120, S. 3912, and S. 3985.

Better known as the “Justice in Policing Act of 2020,” H.R. 7120 seeks to prohibit local law enforcement from practicing what it describes as “racial, religious and discriminatory profiling” and would mandate all local police officers to be indoctrinated in sensitivity training about the adverse effects of such profiling.

According to a fact sheet about the bill, it would include the following:

• Establish a national standard for the operation of police departments
• Mandate data collection on police encounters
• Reprogram existing funds to invest in transformative community-based policing programs
• Streamline federal law to prosecute excessive force and establish independent prosecutors for police investigations.

This bill aims to defund police departments and allocate those funds to leftist “community organizations,” further perpetuating the Left’s war on police. The bill would lower the bar to more easily prosecute police officers not only in instances where the alleged misconduct was intentional, but also in unintentional cases where the officer may have acted recklessly.

The bill has already garnered 230 Democrat cosponsors - more than enough to guarantee its passage in the House of Representatives. Should it pass and be enacted into law, this bill would virtually handcuff local police from effectively serving and protecting their communities.

On the Senate side, Senator Cory Booker, has introduced a similar bill, S. 3912, while Senate Republicans are eager with their own police reform bill by introducing the “JUSTICE Act” (S. 3985). All three of these bills seek to reform policing practices and hold officers more accountable.

However local police officers will not be able to effectively serve and protect their communities if they are burdened with the unconstitutional overreaches of the federal government from any of these three bills.

Jurisdiction over local police departments is not one of the powers delegated to the federal government. Therefore, any “police reforms” fall under their respective local and state governments. It is unconstitutional to enact such measures at the federal level.

Local police departments serve the people in their local counties and are not officers of the federal government. All three bills are unconstitutional and should be stopped in Congress or vetoed by the president, should Congress pass any one or all three of these bills.

Click the button below to contact your U.S. representative, senators, and President Trump and urge them to stop and oppose all three bills: H.R. 7120, S. 3912, and S. 3985.

It is imperative we continue to support our local police and keep them independent from the federal government. Historically, national police are the hallmark of dictatorships around the world and the sovereignty of our local police is vital to the survival of our Republic.
