John,

I first got the idea to start my family-owned business because of EPA research on water waste.

But now, access to information about our environment, our weather, and innovations in the medical and tech fields are at risk.

One of the many, many things that the Trump administration — with the help of our incumbent Representative Maria Elvira Salazar — has recklessly slashed are research grants at the EPA,  NOAA,  NIH,  CDC, and at colleges and universities across the nation and right here in Miami.

In our own community, the University of Miami’s medical school had over $2 million in research grants abruptly canceled. FIU had hundreds of thousands slashed.

These aren’t cost saving measures. We’re not getting that money back (unless you happen to be a billionaire…). All we’re getting is lost jobs and missed opportunities.

If you’re tired of seeing innovation stamped out and want leadership that will actually help small businesses, I’m running to flip this seat and bring solutions that work for us, not against us, to Congress. If you’re with me, click here to chip in $10.

The impacts of these cuts go beyond just the dollar amount. These grants help Americans start companies, create jobs, provide needed equipment and technology to our universities, cover scholarships, and ensure we’re continuing to find better and faster solutions to all kinds of problems.

How many future small business owners will we lose because of Trump and Maria Elvira Salazar? How many students with bright, innovative ideas will be turned away because they can’t afford tuition? How many patients will suffer because medical research has been halted?

Enough is enough — it’s time for new leadership. I’ll work to restore these critical grants and fight for innovation so our community can thrive.
