Even in the face of rising threats and real harm targeting our communities, we remain clear: there is hope. What re:power is building with you is the kind of power that can carry us through. So take a breath, read through these highlights from the first half of the year, and remember that you are not alone. We are growing something powerful, together.

In March, nearly 200 organizers from 34 states gathered in Charlotte, NC for Camp re:power 2025. What unfolded was nothing short of transformative. Together, we explored liberatory strategy, adaptive leadership, healing justice, and sustainable organizing. We visioned, we vibed (yes, even at karaoke), and we recommitted to the long road ahead.

This year’s Camp reminded us what happens when we gather with purpose. Our fearless facilitators brought the strategy, our artists and DJ brought the energy, and adrienne maree brown brought the fire as our keynote speaker. Camp wasn’t just a training—it was a movement moment. And we’re still glowing from it. Together, we created a space full of joy, honesty, and real transformation. Campers made powerful commitments—to their communities, their leadership, and each other—and they left knowing they’re not alone on the long road ahead. Camp re:power was a moment—but the Campers made it a movement.

In January, we teamed up with 9to5—an organizing force for economic justice for women and nonbinary people of color since 1973—for a three-day Grassroots Organizing Training. From narrative strategy to campaign planning, we helped organizers sharpen their tools and build stronger leadership teams rooted in community power. With a dynamic all-BIPOC coaching team and a focus on 9to5’s state-based work in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Colorado, the training left organizers with renewed clarity and connection. Huge shoutout to our Program Manager for Movement Building, Andy Ornelas, for leading this incredible work.

From the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest, we helped electeds govern powerfully. In Chicago, where a progressive school board was elected for the first time to oversee the nation's fourth largest school district, we trained new members in family-centered governance alongside the Chicago Teachers Union. Meanwhile in Washington, PGA and Puget Sound Sage brought together 20 state, local, and school board electeds for a deep dive into shared governance—facilitated by re:power trainers Councilwoman Delishia Porterfield and former State Senator Elizabeth Olsen. These trainings help ensure our movement leaders not only win elections—but govern powerfully.

We welcomed our most diverse State Courts on the Power Map cohort yet—trans and GNC folks, formerly incarcerated leaders, and organizers from across the South and beyond. Together, they’re mapping power, tracking threats, and organizing around state courts as key terrain in our fight for racial, gender, and reproductive justice.

We’re meeting the moment with digital, data, and organizing skills that grow grassroots power. In-person and online, our trainings evolve to meet our communities where they are. 

As a remote, majority-BIPOC organization, we believe in the power of gathering—not only through our trainings, but also through intentional staff convenings that bring our values to life and build lasting community. That is why our staff came together in San Diego to reconnect, strategize, and continue our collective journey around race and gender justice. We also welcomed back Sarah Allsbrooks, Director, Institutional Giving and new staff members Andy Ornelas, Program Manager, Movement Building, and Devon Fryer, Director, Individual Giving!
