Hi Friend,

After nearly two years of organizing in Knox County, we didn't just win—we proved what happens when ordinary Ohioans stand together and refuse to stay silent.

The farmers and landowners of Knox County have won!

The Frasier Solar project has been approved by the Ohio Power Siting Board.

To every person who wrote a letter, made a call, talked to a neighbor, or stood up for what’s right: THANK YOU. This win belongs to all of us.

The Power of Showing Up for Each Other

When our Rural Projects Manager Bella Bogin started knocking doors in October 2023, she found farmers and families who supported clean energy but were too scared to speak up. They'd been bullied into silence by opponents spreading fear and misinformation.

So we did what Ohio Citizen Action does best: we created a safe space where truth could flourish. Together with local supporters, we helped found Knox Solar Supporters and got to work.

6,249 doors knocked. 426 comments to the Ohio Power Siting Board. 66 yard signs proudly displayed despite intimidation.

Each number represents a neighbor who decided their voice mattered. And they were right. Read the full story of how we won

What This Victory Means

The Frasier Solar project will generate $1 million in taxes every year, with half going directly to the Mount Vernon City School District.

But the real victory is bigger—we protected Ohio farmers' rights to choose their own future and proved that community courage is contagious and is stronger than fear.

This victory has shown what's possible when we join together. Clean energy projects across Ohio need the same grassroots organizing that made Knox County possible. Rural communities need advocates who will stand with them against bullies and misinformation campaigns.

Your contribution—whether it's $25, $50, or $100—will help us organize in the next community that needs us. It will help us knock on the next 6,249 doors. It will help us experiment and innovate and learn from the lessons in Knox County.

We've proven that showing up matters. Thank you for being part of this victory. Thank you for believing in what we can accomplish together.

With deep gratitude and boundless hope,

Ohio Citizen Action

P.S.  We’re looking for sponsors for our 50th anniversary event in Columbus, September 20. If you or your business would like some great recognition while helping us celebrate, visit https://www.ohiocitizen.org/50th_anniv_sponsorship for more information.
