Thanks to NRDC supporters like you, plans to build two industrial-scale wood pellet plants in California have been canceled. This historic victory reflects increasingly widespread recognition that the biomass industry is a bad bet for our forests and our communities.
The company behind the project, Golden State Natural Resources (GSNR), cited the 50,000 comments they received in opposition to the project — more than 37,000 of which were sent by NRDC activists — as a key factor in their decision. Our voices were heard — and heeded.
But the fight’s not over. GSNR will go back to the drawing board and return with a revised proposal for public comment. You can be sure we will be calling on NRDC supporters to again mobilize in full force against industrial threats to our forests, climate, and communities.
