Dear John,
Last week, the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law. It contains significant budget cuts and policy changes within the Medicaid program—some of which could impact care and services for people with autism.
Almost none of the Medicaid provisions will take effect immediately. But because the bill cuts nearly $1 trillion in federal Medicaid funding, states will be forced to make tough choices, that could put critical services for autistic people at risk. As we continue to evaluate the impacts of this law, our resolve remains strong and as states propose changes to Medicaid in the coming years, we will be there fighting to preserve services for the autism community.
We know our community is concerned, and we’re committed to continuing our work with urgency and determination. Thank you for being alongside us. Over the last few months, you have helped us send more than 16,000 messages to Congress reminding lawmakers that Medicaid is a lifeline. That action mattered—it showed just how strong, informed, and engaged our community is. We will continue to fight on behalf of the community on Capitol Hill and in state capitols to mitigate the impacts of these cuts and look forward to staying engaged with you.
Stay engaged and watch for the next action alert.
With appreciation,
David Sitcovsky
