In 2004, I did something I never thought I’d do. I ran for the Minneapolis School Board!
I wasn’t planning on running for office. I actually tried to recruit someone older, and ‘more experienced’ for the job. But when no one wanted to step up, I did (and I didn’t even have a kiddo!).
During that campaign, I was underestimated and cast aside — a feeling I know all too well. I became motivated as heck to win and do right by my community.
So when I won, I made history becoming the youngest person to serve on the Minneapolis School Board at just 25 years old.
Every single day, I fought to make sure every kid got the education they deserved, regardless of income or zip code.
For me, being a public servant means serving your community, not corporations or special interests. And that’s exactly what I’ll do as Senator.
The GOP’s inhumane budget is a stark reminder of what's at stake. It prioritizes corporations and billionaires, and leaves regular folks behind. It's not enough to just reverse this bill when Democrats take back the Senate. We must do BETTER. The status quo isn't good enough for our families or for our future.
I'm running for Senate to be a loud and clear voice for all of us. But I can't do this alone. I need your support to build a campaign strong enough to take on any attacks that come our way.
