More than 7,200 brand new electric mail trucks are cruising across the county, delivering us our mail while leading the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) toward a cleaner, emission-free future.[1]
But now Congress is considering a proposal to auction off thousands of USPS electric trucks and charging stations.[2]
Tell your U.S. representative: Electric vehicles are cleaner -- don't drag the Postal Service back in time.

After generating more than 100,000 actions in support of the USPS electrifying its fleet, Environment Colorado and our partner organizations celebrated its commitment to investing in zero-emission electric trucks.[3]
The USPS was in desperate need of upgrading its pre-existing vehicles -- which averaged 25 years old, lacked proper heating and had a penchant for spontaneous combustion. The transition from fossil fuels to electric vehicles just made sense.[4]
These new vehicles are designed specifically for the USPS, ensuring postal workers can go about their jobs safely and with ease. And because they don't rely on fossil fuels, electric mail trucks won't emit pollution into our neighborhoods.
The USPS's electric fleet is good for the postal workers and for us -- urge your U.S. representative to keep them on the street.

The air pollution caused by gas-powered vehicles is no small issue. An estimated 58,000 Americans die prematurely each year due to pollution from cars, trucks and other fossil fuel-powered vehicles.[5]
It's ridiculous to sell off the electric trucks that have already been purchased, and even more ridiculous to replace them with polluting gas-powered vehicles.
These trucks were made specifically for mail service, and it's unlikely their sale would generate the more than $450 million it would cost to replace them.[6]
When the USPS committed to electrifying its fleet, it established itself as a leader on the road to zero emissions. To turn back now would be a waste of resources and a major step backwards.
Tell your U.S. representative today: Don't force the USPS to sell its electric vehicles.
