In the weeks following the tragic death of George Floyd, racial tensions have taken center stage. Groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa, parroting bad historical information like that found in the New York Times 1619 Project (a school curriculum used in most states), have further escalated those tensions. And reckless and irresponsible historical claims by some national leaders have made the national atmosphere even more toxic.

For example, US Senator Tim Kaine (VA), on national television, declared, "The United States didn't inherit slavery from anybody. We created it." America created slavery? What a ridiculous statement! If most Americans knew the real story of slavery and race relations in America, today's climate would almost certainly be very different.
