We are thrilled to announce our second candidate of 2025: Elizabeth Guzman, challenger for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 22!  Democrats hold the majority by a single seat—and winning the HD 22 seat is critical to maintaining our power.

MEET ELIZABETH GUZMAN

Elizabeth Guzman previously represented the 31st District in Virginia’s House of Delegates for six years, serving parts of Prince William and Fauquier Counties. She is a social worker and public administrator, and was the first Latina immigrant to serve in the General Assembly.

During her tenure in the legislature, Elizabeth served in leadership roles on the Education and Social Services Committees. As a second-generation union member, she championed workers’ rights, leading the fight for a paid sick leave law to ensure that no Virginian should have to choose between their health and a paycheck. She also passed historic legislation lifting Virginia’s blanket ban on public-sector collective bargaining. Elizabeth has worked diligently in a bipartisan manner to bridge the rural-urban divide and ensure all communities in her district are represented, earning respect from colleagues on both sides of the aisle. She resides in Prince William County with her husband, Carlos, their four children, and her mother, Gregoria.

WHY THIS RACE IS IMPORTANT

In 2023, Democrats flipped the Virginia House of Delegates. ​Electing Elizabeth to the 22nd District is crucial for expanding the Democratic majority in Virginia's House of Delegates. She has a proven track record of championing progressive policies, and now we need to send her back to Richmond so her leadership can ensure continued progress on issues vital to Virginians.

We were thrilled to welcome Joshua Cole in a guest appearance at our June 23 phonebank!  With our NYC and MA-RI chapter partners, our stats were impressive:

• 20 volunteers made calls
• 20 local volunteers were recruited
• 42 undecided voters were found

And 10,265 TOTAL dials were made!

Why phonebank? The data proves it: phonebanking is THE BEST volunteering option for remote voter contact. We identify supporters and let them know why their votes matter, speak with undecided voters, and recruit local volunteers. 

New to phonebanking?  Don't worry! No experience is necessary. Each Zoom phonebank includes training and check-ins for first-timers (experienced callers can jump right in). We'll share successes and address questions throughout the session, all while contacting voters in crucial state legislative races. Our veteran phonebank leaders will help you get comfortable, increase your effectiveness, and make sure you have a great experience.
