LGBTQIA2S+ teens and young adults can get help from 988 and many other support networks
On July 17, 2025, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline [ [link removed] ] will shut down the LGBTQI+ Youth Subnetwork. This line has provided specialized support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA2S+) teens and young adults ages 13–24 since 2022.
Even though the 988 Lifeline will no longer be able to operate this national subnetwork, you can still contact 988 to reach a trained crisis counselor.
*You matter.* You deserve caring, compassionate support from someone who understands what you’re dealing with. In uncertain times, it becomes even more important to know how to get help during a mental health crisis, or any other time you need it.
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) remains committed to helping everyone get the care and support they need. DOH is working with other states to explore ways to provide specialized services for LGBTQIA2S+ youth.
