Most people think of 2025 as the calm before the storm, an off year. A year for us to reorganize, take a breather, and prepare for the upcoming midterms. I am writing to warn you that we do not have this luxury.
In 2025, Pennsylvania has its Supreme Court Retention election. While this may sound boring and procedural it is anything but—MAGA is working night and day to knock off the Democratic justices on the court and ensure that PA never votes blue again.
It is terrifying to me that I barely hear anyone outside of PA talking about this race. Already I see MAGA activating influencers like Scott Pressler, a young MAGA “organizer” and influencer from Pennsylvania, who is hard at work organizing for the Supreme Court fight:
The right is rallying for this fight whilst Democrats are nowhere to be found.
As the President of the Pennsylvania Young Democrats, my organizers will be on the front lines of this fight. Being caught flat-footed here keeps me up at night and this is what we are on track for.
With this in mind I’ve devised a hail mary. I have successfully lobbied for the National Young Dems Convention to be held in Philadelphia this year. Why?
A successful convention will serve as a lifeline for us, further getting the word out about the upcoming elections as well as training and fielding an army of much needed young organizers from across the nation. Unfortunately, with so much of our resources being diverted to the court fight we are massively under budget for the convention and time is running out before the event starts July 16.
That’s why my friends at Defend Our Courts, the organization at the forefront of the PA Supreme Court election fight, told me to reach out and humbly ask for support. Can you split a much-needed donation between PA Young Dems and Defend Our Courts to guarantee we’re fully ready for November 2025?
