Last week, Republicans pushed through their Big Ugly Bill. I voted no for the good people of West Michigan–for our healthcare, for our children, for our farmers, for our seniors, for our veterans, and for each and every one of you.

Republicans will tell you otherwise, but this is a dangerous bill that puts millions of Americans at risk of losing critical access to healthcare, SNAP benefits, and so much more. And Republicans know it. It’s why they started the vote at 3:28 AM. It’s why it took them hours upon hours to be convinced that this bill was good for their constituents. And it’s why the bill passed with a narrow margin of 217-214.

Our work is not over. We have a path forward, and it involves a Democratic majority in Congress.

Flipping and then holding this seat meant we turned a “yes” vote into a “no” vote. Michigan will serve as a firewall against further attacks on the working and middle class, and defending this district, just as we did in 2024, is critical.
