[link removed] [[link removed]] I wanted to reach out and share a few thoughts.
There’s no denying that the past week has been difficult. After the Senate passed Donald Trump’s disastrous budget bill on a 50-50 vote, National Republicans pushed the legislation through the House over the protests of their own constituents.
Yes, they thought it was appropriate to ignore the thousands of people — Republicans and Democrats alike — who called their offices and spelled out exactly how this bill would hurt them.
I voted NO, alongside every one of my Democratic colleagues. But it wasn’t enough.
Instead, this cruel attack on working-class Americans was passed by a narrow margin and sent to Donald Trump’s desk.
And with the President’s signature, the grave consequences of this legislation will soon become apparent in the very near future:
Nearly 100,000 Kansans thrown off their health care. Nursing homes and rural hospitals forced to shutter their doors. Skyrocketing premiums for those with private insurance. Food assistance ripped away from hungry children. Trillions in tax handouts to the wealthiest people on the face of the Earth.
This outcome is far more than a disappointment. It’s a devastating loss for the millions of moms, dads, kids, seniors, and workers whose lives will be changed for the worse.
But this doesn’t mean we can give up our fight. It doesn’t mean we now have to passively accept every outrageous scheme that Donald Trump and his extreme allies throw at us. We have to turn our anger into action — not helplessness.
And the single best way to do that is by taking control of the House next year. Because with a Democratic Congress in charge, we can stop future attacks on working families. We can place a check on Trump’s power. And we can begin the work of clawing back all the progress we’ve lost.
That’s why I’m asking for your support today. Democrats need to flip just 3 seats next year — and hold competitive districts like mine — to win control of the House and take real power away from National Republicans. So if you’re just as ready as I am to kick the dust off and get to work, will you chip in?

Together, we’ll be ready for whatever’s next.
Thank you,
