They actually did it: MAGA Republicans in Congress squeaked through their $4.5 trillion welfare bill for the super rich.
The new law will end up being far worse than nonpartisan analyses currently make it sound. But the account is already pretty rough:
*$800 billion in cuts to Medicaid
*Nearly $300 billion in cuts to SNAP (food assistance)
*Clean energy manufacturing slashed, which will cost the U.S. and Colorado in particular hundreds of thousands in jobs and economic output
*ACA health insurance premium subsidies cut, which will cause losses in coverage and increase premiums for everyone
*Massive increase in funding to ICE—over $150 billion in just four years
In Colorado, the impact on working families is going to be brutal: over 100,000 families kicked off Medicaid; tens of thousands of folks losing food assistance; skyrocketing insurance premiums; and new funding for ICE to terrorize American communities.
