Donald Trump promised the NRA he’d stand with them. Now they’re
celebrating — and our communities are paying the price.

With the passage of Trump's so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” the NRA
proudly announced that this legislation will deliver the “biggest blow to
the National Firearms Act in nearly a century.” And they’re right.

Let’s break down why this matters:

* The National Firearms Act (1934) created strict rules for silencers
and short-barreled rifles and shotguns, requiring a $200 tax and
federal registration.

* These weapons are highly lethal and easily concealable, which is why
they’ve been regulated for nearly a century.

* Trump’s new law removes the $200 tax, making these dangerous firearms
more accessible — a clear handout to the gun industry and a threat to
public safety.

This isn't just policy. It’s a values test. And Trump failed it.

His so-called “law and order” rhetoric rings hollow. By siding with the
gun lobby, he has put corporate interests over public safety, and
communities across the country will pay the price.
