Fellow Democrat, we're Democrats. And sometimes, Democrats are too smart for our own good.
We wanted to take a second to give you a little peak behind the curtain on how investments are typically made for Congressional elections.
Typically, Democrats pick a handful of "battlefield" congressional districts and pour nearly all our resources into those few. And it means that all the other Congressional districts are underinvested in, and those Democratic candidates doesn't have the resources to compete.
Here's what that leads to:
- Voter fatigue in battleground districts (i.e. "If you call me one more time, I'm never voting for a Democrat again")
- High cost of communicating per vote (it is far more expensive to communicate with a voter in NY-19 than CO-05)
- Democrats giving up on winning districts that we could be competitive in with the right candidate, message, and electoral environment
Normally, this is bad.
But in a cycle where Trump's approval ratings could mean that nearly every Republican district is in play, the results of the same old playbook could be downright catastrophic.
That's why we're stepping in. We recruit viable candidates in districts that are winnable, but often ignored. And we support candidates, early, to make sure they have the resources to win.
Our work is 100% powered by grassroots donors. You make this possible. And roughly, for every $5,000 we raise, we are able to add another target district onto our map so we can defeat a vulnerable Republican.
But we'll level with you. Fundraising for Democrats is tough right now. It means that we have a big budget gap to fill if we are going to do this early work to recruit viable candidates and invest in their campaigns. So we are reaching out to you. Will you chip in $25, $50, or more so we can do this critical work?
If just 100 people reading this email chip in $50, we can add another district to our target list to defeat a vulnerable republican.
