Surveillance Pricing:
The Hidden Threat to Prices, Wages, and Economic Liberty

What you see on a price tag — whether online or in a grocery store — might not be what the person next to you sees. Across the economy, corporations are quietly collecting personal data and using it to personalize prices, suppress wages, and strip everyday Americans of their economic power. This tactic, known as surveillance pricing, is already reshaping consumer and labor markets — from retailers charging different prices based on ZIP code or web history, to rideshare platforms using health data to lowball pay offers. 

On July 16 at 1:00-2:00 pm EST / 10:00-11:00am PST, join the American Economic Liberties Project and the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union for an event on how lawmakers can stand up to protect their communities from these invasive and exploitative tactics. The event will feature keynote remarks from Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX-35) and California Assemblymember Chris Ward (D-78). 

A panel discussion will follow, moderated by Lee Hepner, Senior Legal Counsel at the American Economic Liberties Project and including experts and advocates representing labor and consumers from Consumer Reports, UFCW Western States Council, and Groundwork Collaborative.
