back against the unlawful immigration enforcement tactics that are
terrorizing families here in California.
Today I led a multistate coalition of attorneys general in submitting an
amicus brief in support of a lawsuit civil and immigrant rights groups,
led by the ACLU of Southern California, filed to stop ICE and Customs and
Border Protection from conducting unlawful and unconstitutional stops
during immigration raids.

Let’s be clear about what’s actually happening in our communities: Masked
immigration agents are conducting unannounced raids, stopping residents
without so much as reasonable suspicion of unlawful activity, and even
wrongfully detaining U.S. citizens. People are scared to leave their
homes, and communities are left empty.
These unlawful militaristic tactics threaten public safety and public
health, and hurt our local economies.
These aggressive tactics are not about safety or justice — they’re about
intimidation, plain and simple.
We can’t be silent in the face of cruel and unlawful attacks on our
