DEAR FRIENDS,
This has been a busy week!
Our investigative team traveled from Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas in just a matter of days. Finding cockfights at each location, and even some good cops doing their jobs along the way!
On July 5 in Mount Pleasant, TX, ”Titus County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators executed a search and arrest warrant and arrested 52-year-old Titus County resident Timothy Thompson on-site for the offense of Cockfighting, classified as a State Jail Felony. During the execution of the warrant, additional evidence led to four more charges of Cruelty to a Livestock Animal, also State Jail Felonies.”

On July 5 we were in Kaufman County, TX at another cockfight. There was a thick canopy of trees on this property and it was difficult to see, but we could tell that they were holding the cockfight outdoors. We called the Sheriff, we told them exactly what we saw, which wasn’t much. However, based on the limited information we provided, they executed a warrant with numerous law enforcement vehicles and proceeded onto the property. We thank the motivated police for taking swift action.
Also on July 5 we got a quick tip that there was another pit within close driving distance. We quickly drove over, and even though the police did not take action at this location, we did see a business trailer at this location. We didn’t think much of it at first, but that small trailer had a BIG NAME…Bimbo Bakeries USA, the world’s largest baking company.
The trailer was being used to hold roosters that were fought. Imagine that - a trailer intended for transporting human food was housing animals. We hope Bimbo executives will realize both the threat to human health, and the public relations nightmare that this poses, and will find and fire those involved.
