More than 35,000 MoveOn members have signed the petition telling Attorney General Pam Bondi: NO money for Proud Boys. Add your name if you agree!
Dear MoveOn member,
Leaders of the Proud Boys, a far-right hate group, are trying to sue the Department of Justice (DOJ). These were key instigators in the January 6 attack on our Capitol, and now they want $100 million from American taxpayers—despite being convicted by a jury of their peers.
While Trump and congressional Republicans slash our federal budget to strip funding from Medicaid and food stamps, we won't sit back and allow our government to pay $100 million to a violent hate group attacking our democracy. We need the DOJ to know that we're paying attention.
Will you sign the petition to demand the DOJ fight back against this ridiculous lawsuit and protect our democracy?
We know that the Trump administration is cozying up to insurrectionists. Recent reports show that Trump's DOJ fired three prosecutors involved in pursuing criminal cases related to January 6.1 And Trump already pardoned or had the sentences of these insurrectionists commuted against the will of the general public as one of his first acts as president.
But clearly an unjust pardon from President Trump wasn't enough. They want to exploit our hard-earned taxpayer money, too. Already, tens of thousands of people have spoken up to say: not on our watch. But we need to keep up the public pressure to make it clear to Attorney General Pam Bondi that we expect them to fight this lawsuit with every tool available.
Add your name to the petition today telling Attorney General Pam Bondi to prevent this obvious cash grab—and then share it with three friends.
Thanks for all you do.

SIGN NOW: The Proud Boys want $100 million from taxpayers to fund their hate. Add your name to tell Attorney General Pam Bondi: Don't let them take a single penny.
Dear MoveOn member,
Five leaders of the Proud Boys—the far-right hate group that helped incite the deadly January 6 insurrection—are suing to make us pay them $100 million for their violent riot.
You read that right: these insurrectionists, who were convicted by a jury of their peers after trying to overthrow our democracy, are now claiming that they are the victims and are suing the Department of Justice (DOJ).2
They're hoping that President Donald Trump—who called January 6 a "day of love"3—and his loyalists will hand them millions of our tax dollars to spread more chaos, more violence, and more hate. We can't let it happen.
Add your name to the petition to demonstrate public outrage and pressure Attorney General Bondi to fight against this Proud Boys cash grab NOW.
The DOJ should spend its budget to protect us and stop violent, organized hate groups like the Proud Boys from terrorizing our communities. But if we don’t speak out now, our money could instead end up going toward white supremacist assemblies and recruitment, all on the public dime. And it would send a dangerous and terrifying message to other far-right groups about not only what they can get away with but how they will be rewarded.
President Trump already violated his oath of office hours after he took it when he pardoned thousands of January 6 rioters on his Inauguration Day. Letting this lawsuit succeed would be an additional betrayal to the American people.
We can't allow our government to endorse the actions of January 6th insurrectionists with $100 million in taxpayer cash to finance the next wave of extreme far-right violence. Will you sign the petition?
Across the political spectrum, Americans overwhelmingly opposed pardons for violent January 6th insurrectionists.4 Giving taxpayer money to those who were convicted would be an affront to every single person in this country. We need the Department of Justice to defend this case vigorously and ensure not one cent goes to the Proud Boys. Not for their hate. Not for their violence. Not for their attack on our country.
Sign the petition to let Attorney General Pam Bondi know the American people demand she fight back against this lawsuit, and then share with three friends to help build the public pressure we need. Thanks for all you do.
